Jim Vernard Brown, II's Obituary
Jim Vernard Brown, II, 74, of Chattanooga, transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in a local hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 30, 1945, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Jim V. Brown, Sr. and Mable Leslie Brown. Jim was educated in Chattanooga Public Schools and graduated from Howard High School. He was a member of Real Life Ministries. Jim, affectionately known as “Lil Mane” by his family and friends, was the jokester of the family. He was a carpenter by trade and was very proud of his ability to lay flooring and do home improvements. Jim was preceded in death by her parents; his companion of over 50 years, Ethel Mae Brown; son, Jamichael Brown; brothers, Cardean Brown and George Lee Brown Sr.; sisters, Gwendolyn Harris and Annette Mathis; and grandson, D. Taylor Wooten. Survivors include his children, Jim V. (Annette) Brown, III and Tenika (Ira) Miller; grandchildren, Kiara Torrey, Domnique Torrey, Amya Brown, Jamichael Brown, Jr., Janiya Brown, Trey Officer, Tavern Hughes, and Lena Bryant; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Brown; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Jim will lie-in-state on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Shauna Wooten as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
