Jessie J. Montgomery, Sr.'s Obituary
Jessie Montgomery, Sr., 75, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, in the Hospice Care Center. He was a graduate of Hill High School and received his associate degree from McKenzie College. Jessie was a former member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and was a Trustee until his health began to fail. He was presently a member of New United Missionary Baptist Church. Jessie is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Parks Montgomery and Rosa Lee Turner. Survivors include his wife of 20 years Vivian Montgomery; son, Jessie Montgomery, Jr.; daughter, Jasmine Montgomery; grandchildren, Takia Adkins, Kierra Harrison, Jaylon Montgomery, Jelani Montgomery; brother, Calvin (Betty) Montgomery; sisters, Mary Careathers, Debra (Stacey) Evans, and Shelia Montgomery; cousins, relatives and friends. He will lie-in-state on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at New United Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Jeffrey Wilson as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
