Jerry B Reid's Obituary
Jerry Bernard Reid, 81, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 2, 1944, to Oscar Reid, Sr. and Gladys Reid. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Reid; father, Oscar Reid, Sr., and 9 siblings, whose memories he cherished throughout his own life. Jerry attended Doolittle Grammar School and Carver High School. He married Linda Reid on September 11, 1982, and was a devoted husband and father. Jerry worked as a baker at Wonder Bread in Pomona, California, until he retired. He loved singing in the choir at St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry’s favorite song that he would sing was “I’m Just A Nobody” by The Williams Brothers. Jerry held his faith close. He was known for helping friends, strangers and his generosity. Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda Reid; daughter, D’yaisha Reid; granddaughter, Tara Reid. We warmly invite all who were touched by Jerry’s kindness to join us for the celebration of life memorial service on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 12 noon at St. James A.M.E. Church, 7526 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
