Jerry Martin, II's Obituary
Jerry “Doughboy” Martin II, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, was born on September 15, 1976, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Jerry and Veneria Martin. He departed this life on January 4, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
At just eight years old, Jerry accepted the Lord as his Savior and became a member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church.
Jerry attended Tyner High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee and furthered his education through Job Corps. He was known for his big smile and joyful spirit. A very happy person, Jerry loved working on his cars and had a strong passion for electronics and technology. A true sports fan, his favorite team was the Georgia Bulldogs. Jerry also worked in several restaurants over the years and found great joy in cooking.
Above all, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his beloved family and friends, especially his daughters, Rekiaya and Gabrielle Martin, who were the light of his life.
Following a tragic accident, Jerry faced physical challenges but continued to shine with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. He was lovingly cared for by his devoted mother, Veneria Martin, and his grandmother, Doris Paris. He was also supported and cared for by his stepdad, James “Buster” Gamble, Jr. and friend of the family, Thomas Walker.
Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Antwane Martin; his grandparents, Lindberg and Melinda Martin, and Willie D. Grier; uncles, Robert Ballard and Johnny Wayne Martin; and great grandparents, Charlie and Marie Hall.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Rekiaya Martin and Gabrielle Martin; his mother, Veneria Martin; his father, Jerry (Veronica) Martin; his grandmother, Doris Paris; his sister, Lisa Martin; his brother, Tyrus (Alicia) Martin of Louisville, Kentucky; his great uncles, Bill Hall and Steve Grier; his aunts, Catrina (Robert) Rice and Renee Ballard of Huntsville, Alabama; his nieces, Tearra (Jeremy) Bell, Chiquita Martin, Aaliyah Martin of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tyuana Martin of Louisville, Kentucky; his great-nephews, Jeremy Bell Jr. and Azarayah Martin; his great-niece, Jur’nee Martin; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Jerry “Doughboy” Martin II will forever be remembered for his warm heart, infectious smile, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
Jerry will lie-in-state on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Caudle as the Eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
