Jerry L. Abernathy's Obituary
Jerry Louis Abernathy, 39, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023. He was born on March 29, 1983, to Jerry Louis Woods and Sharon Abernathy. Jerry attended Red Bank High School. He was formerly employed with Brother’s Construction. Jerry enjoyed music, sports, and time with family and friends. He accepted Christ at a young age and knew the Lord. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude L. Woods, Rev. Charlie and Selma Abernathy; and brother, Leslie L. Abernathy. Survivors include his daughter, Jerrial Abernathy, father, Jerry Louis Woods; mother, Sharon Abernathy, all of Chattanooga; grandmother, Mary A. Woods of Chattanooga; siblings, Carey Woods of Albuquerque, NM, Avihanna Woods, Chyla Woods, Ricky Covington, all of Chattanooga, and Tony Matthews of Cincinnati, OH; aunts, Linda Woods and Cynthia Woods, both of Chattanooga; special cousins, Cyntoria Simmons, JaMichael Battle, and Desiree Battle, all of Chattanooga; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Jerry will lie-in-state on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordon, Sr. will serve as the eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
