Jeanine “Jan” Douglas Mynatt, 74, of Chattanooga, transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in a local hospital. Jan graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, class of 1968 in Queens, New York. She worked for International Telephone and Telegraph as a Secretary in the Sonography Department. She began dating the love of her life, Kenneth Mynatt, Sr., while residing in New York. They later married in 1994 and shortly after Jan gave birth to the “apple of her eye,” her daughter, Gwendolyn. Jeanine and her family moved back to Chattanooga in 1996 where she held various positions and raised her beautiful daughter with Kenneth by her side. Jeanine loved nothing more than to spend time with family and friends at gatherings and holidays. She’d often drive from city to city just to spend time with family and instilled the importance of a strong family unit to her daughter and loved ones. Jan became a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Robert Loveday Memorial Unit 6 in 2016. She served as a Commander as well as an Americanism Officer from 2023 until the time of her death. In addition, she also took lead and was the Tennessee State Americanism Officer for state conferences and events. Jan also served and became a member of the Gold Star Families. Jeanine would often always attend the annual memorial ceremonies in honor of those who served. Her family would describe her as a “superstar” when she was filmed and caught on the local news channels and online. Jeanine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mynatt, Sr.; parents, Marvin and Gwendolyn Douglas; parent-in-laws, Samuel and Azzie Mynatt, Jr; grandchildren, Ayden and Brayden Ross.
