Jannie Marie Means, 78, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024. Jannie was born in Limestone County, Alabama. She retired from Cigna Health Center as an Eligibility Specialist in 2006. She was married to William Ellis Means for 59 years. Jannie was proceeded in death by her father, Tillmon Jones, Sr. and Mother Alma Jones; husband, William Ellis Means; father-in-law, Ralph Means, Sr.; brother-in-law, Ralph (Mary Ruth) Means, Jr.; stepmother-in law, Rosa Mae Pounds Means; stepmother, Arie Means; two brothers-in-law, Freddie Collier and Albert “Chuckie” Fifer; sister, Evella Jones Fifer; first cousin, Charlene Elizabeth Nelson; aunts, Grovenia Pounds Perryman and Ruth Sanders; niece, Inetha Collier Word; and nephew, Freddie Collier, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (William) Hall, Sonya Holmes, Tara (Corey) Campbell, and Jannelle Means; brothers, Darnell Jones and Tillmon Jones, Jr.; sisters, Alma (Don) Hunt and Lorene Collier; brother-in-law, Thomas E. (Tempie) Means, Sr.; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Jannie will lie in-state on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jeffrey Wilson as Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
