James Tory's Obituary
James Richard Tory, 78, of Chattanooga, TN peacefully made his transition on Monday, May 19, 2025. James was born on December 20, 1946, in Chattanooga to the late Nina L. Williams-Brooks and Ed Henry Tory. A native of Chattanooga, James attended Howard High School, graduating with the class of 1966. Upon completion of high school, he joined the Military under the branch of the United States Army. James retired as an Electrician from Norfolk Southern Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jackie Tory; nephew; niece; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. James leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful wife, B. Yvonne Tyler-Tory; two daughters, Tamara Tory, of Chattanooga, and Bridget (Kenneth) Palmer-Nunez, of Baltimore, MD; a son; sisters, Audrey Campbell, Rosella Good, Lorena Bridges, Loretta Tory, all of Chattanooga, Michelle (Gary) Houston, of Cincinnati, OH, and Valerie Penn; brothers, Calvin Tory, of Chattanooga, and Grady Tory, of Ooltewah, TN; two grandchildren, Seann Goodman II, and Bri’Shia Davis, of Baltimore; a host of nieces, nephews and many, many family and friends. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations go towards The American Diabetes Association.
James will lie-in-state on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. There will be no following services provided.
