With my deepest sympathy,

I was heartbroken to hear of his passing. He was not only your beloved husband and father, but also a dear friend to me from our days in the Air Force—someone I respected, admired, and will never forget. The memories of his strength, character, and camaraderie will always stay with me.

To my “Pop-Pop”…thank you for being the best granddaddy a girl could ask for. You were my biggest cheerleader and always believed in me. Most little girls ask for Barbie dolls on birthdays and Christmas—I asked for a camera. You bought me my very first Polaroid and I was so excited! It’s because of you that I’m now one of the top photographers in my hometown. You were always so happy to see me and you had a smile that would light up a room. I love you Pop-Pop and I miss you so much. I always will hold our memories dear to my heart. Rest in Heaven until we meet again❤️🙏🏾

CONDOLENCE, PRAYERS out to the SIMS family...When i first saw the name i didn't want to jump the gun, knowing some SIMS ...SMOKEY is the "only" James that i know, was again "hoping" that it "wasn't" our Smokey. I waited...when i saw certain names lighting a candle "that" confirmed that it was OUR Smokey. Can't tell you how far we go back (man.. ) Smokey was a low key type person,was hard to connect with after the "hang out" closed. ( JAY'S CITICO MKT ) The last time i spoke with Smokey was there at Walmart on Greenview. (With that cap bib going up ) Some years ago ( Have kept this in mind ) a local Pastor said ( maybe not exact ) that LIFE is like going to a TELLER, each morning YOU wake up you're making a WITHDRAWAL, the ONLY difference between the two IS "your" BALANCE is "not" known. We went as far back as when he was "Butch", long before he was known as Smokey. This was before Mr J.C. and my mom's best friend, Miss Rosalee, became a unit. Although we didn't communicate or see each other as often as we once did, it was always a pleasant homecoming when we did. Rest well old friend!!

He was so cool. I was a child when I met him as a charismatic Air Force man. He didn’t ignore my inquisitiveness which must have been tedious. But answered each question with a calm patience. So he demonstrated calm patience to me as a child. I’ll never forget.
