James Miller Shelton's Obituary
James Miller Shelton, Sr., 80, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, in the Hospice Care Center. He was born in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia and attended Hill High School in Lafayette, Georgia. He was formerly employed by the Synthetic Company. James was preceded in death by his parents, Harden and Viola Shelton; son, Charles Shelton; grandson, James Shelton, III; sister, Mary Stallion; and brothers, George Cheek, Sr. and Charles Harden. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Shelton; sons, Courtenay Gunn, James Shelton, Jr., and Kirk Shelton; daughters, Tricia Marsh and Vanessa Southern, all of Chattanooga; 21 grandchildren; brothers, Calvin Shelton of Chickamauga, GA and Willie Frank Shelton of New York; sister, Ethel (Larry) Turner of Kensington, GA; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
