James Jones' Obituary
James Jones, 56, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, in a local hospital. James DeWayne Jones, Sr. was born on December 11, 1967, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Mary Joyce Jones. He was affectionately known by family and friends as “Wayne”. He was reared in the Park City and Alton Park Communities. He graduated from Howard High School, class of 86, where he participated in several sports. Wayne was full of life! It was shown through his love for family and friends. He often planned cookouts and was the life of the party. He had a giving spirit and helped many people during his lifetime. We can’t forget the love he had for his dogs. He also enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing the drums. His favorite saying was “I ain’t got no dimes, only dubs!” Wayne was preceded in death by grandparents, Quincy and Lillian Jones; mother, Mary Joyce Jones; uncles, Eddie James Jones and Quincy Leon Jones; aunt, Willie Ruth Hammonds. He is survived by his children, James Jones, Jr., Jamal Jones, and Jada Jones; grandchildren, Jayshon, Jamirriea, Jamaisa, and Ava; siblings, Carlos Jones (Tina) and Yolanda Jones; aunt, Martha Ann Thirkill; nieces, Traniece, Sheniece, and Monecia; stepsons, Jamaal and Joshua Whitaker and Antionio Hendrix; god-brothers, Gary Stamper, Maurice Terry, and Sidney Smith; several cousins and close friends. He will lie-in-state on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Gibson Sims officiating and Elder James Benford as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
