James Larry Channell Jr.'s Obituary
James Larry Channell, Jr., 66, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his residence in the presence of his family. He was known by many as Channell. He was born January 17, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a 1974 graduate of Riverside High School. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Airforce where he did training, in Air Force Control Radar as well as Air Force Standard Installation Standards and Practices, until he retired from the Air Force in 1998. Channell was also a longtime employee of Mueller Company and retired from Pacific Property. He was a member of E. Third Street Church of Christ. Channell was preceded in death by his father, James Larry Channell, Sr.; stepson, Jerodrick Washington; and grandparents, Mary Channell, Willie and Rebecca Wrisper. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Serprena Channell; daughters, Latasha Channell and Christina Channell (Jacques) Mack; five stepchildren; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; mother, Onnie Wrisper Channell, all of Chattanooga; two sisters, Belinda Benton of Chattanooga and Monica Channell of Atlanta, GA; one brother, David Channell of Las Vegas, NV; two uncles, Ulysses Wrisper of Shelbyville, TN and Ernest (Sadia) Wrisper of Cleveland, OH; aunt, Julia Edwards of Cleveland, OH; great-aunt, Delia Young of Chattanooga; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; best friend, Tony Shaw; special friends, David and Steven Holmes, Ernest Casslin, Dewayne and many other friends. Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. is the eulogist.
