James David Brown, Sr.'s Obituary
James David Brown, Sr., 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 in a local hospital. He was a 1957 graduate of Wilson High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. James was employed by Mueller Company and retired after 30+ years of service. He was a faithful member of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the North Towerway Neighborhood Association. James was preceded in death by his father, David E. Brown. Mother, Lucy L. Brown; brother, Nathaniel Brown; and sister, Julia Baker. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bertha L. Brown; children, Cheryl Coleman, Saundra (Alexander) McGarity, both of Chattanooga, Valencia C. Brown of Atlanta, GA, and James D. (Candace) Brown, II of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Danielle Brown, Breanna Russell, Anthony Russell, Ashley Russell, Kayla Brown, Michelle Bulls, Justin Brown, and David Bulls; brother, Clarence (Marilyn) Brown of Florence, SC; sisters, Alberta (Eddie) Milian of Baldwin, NY, Mildred Washington of Effingham, SC, Glovannah (Harold) Gee, and Katie (James) Hill, both of Florence, SC; aunt, Phoebe Gamble of PA; sister-in-law, Katherine Brown of Florence, SC; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. will be the eulogist.
