James L. Berry's Obituary
James Lee Berry, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in a local healthcare facility. He was a graduate of Howard High School. He was formerly employed by the Animal Hospital. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church.
James was preceded in death by his grandson, Apprentice Dequan Berry; wife, Julia L. Berry; brothers, Calvin Williams and Billy Williams; sister, Patricia Ellis; and mother, Alma Faulks Johnson.
Survivors include his son, Brolin Berry; grandchildren, Akeyllya Berry, Marcellus Jones, Kamyia Wooden, and Iyanna Wooden; great-grandchildren, Austin Williams, Jr. and Khloe N. Jones; brother, Walter Williams of Tampa Bay, FL; several nieces; nephews; cousins; family friend, Ponnie Mastin and many other friends.
James will lie-in-state on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the Chapel with Elder Sandra Bramlett as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
