J.T. Thomas' Obituary
J.T. "Sugarman" Thomas, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, in his sister’s care in York, Alabama. He was born in Emelle, Alabama. J.T. was formerly employed by Mueller Company and was a devoted Deacon of St. Ruth Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mamie Thomas; wife, Mennie Thomas; son, Willie Williams; sisters, Leonia and Loria; brothers, Peter, Eugene, James Edwards, and Herman. Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Thomas and Rosie Jolly; sons, Darren Thomas, Clyde Williams, Melvin Williams, and Lynn Lake; sisters, Pauline Slayton and Judy Daymond; brother, Calvin Thomas, Sr.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several loving in-laws. Mr. Thomas will lie-in-state on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 12 noon in Highland Memorial Gardens with Pastor Walker giving words of comfort.
