Isaac Hilton Skillern's Obituary
Isaac Hilton Skillern, 52, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, in a local hospital. He attended Kirkman Technical High School. He was formerly employed by Chattanooga Times-Free Press. Isaac was a member of New Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church where he served a Deacon, sang in the Male Chorus, was on the Men’s Ministry, and a part of the Sunday School Department. Isaac was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Esther Skillern; maternal grandparents, Elwillie Hurston and Felix Sales; brothers, Marvin Skillern, Jr. and Morris Skillern. Survivors include his son Isaac Maddox; parents, Marvin and Glorius Skillern, Sr., all of Chattanooga; brother, Charles Skillern, Sr. of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Angela Skillern, Cassaundra (Glenn) Barrett, Marcella Skillern, Barbara (Timothy) Lansden, and Karla Skillern; aunts, Hilda Sue Richards, Delores Domineck, Joyce Fears, and Lina Pearl Sales, all of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Isaac will lie-in-state on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at New Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Terrance A. Hannah as the eulogist. Burial on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 12 noon in Forest Hills Cemetery.
