Herman Canada, Jr.'s Obituary
Herman Canada, Jr., 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at his residence. Herman Canada, Jr. was born on February 3, 1947. He attended Riverside High School, where he left in the 12th grade and joined the military. He received his GED through the military. Mr. Canada served 30 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He was one of the first black Paramedics in Chattanooga. Herman was preceded in death by his father, Herman Canada, Sr.; mother, Louise Canada; sisters, Wanda C. White and Constance C. Hudgins; aunt, Geraldine Ellis. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Marian Allen Canada; sons, Herman Canada, III of Jacksonville, N.C. and Austin Canada of Chattanooga; stepson, Shelley L. (Cecilia) King, Jr. of Chattanooga; three step-daughters, Tonika Bush, LaShanna Acklin both of Chattanooga, and Amelia Rapier of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Tatiana and Arianna Canada of Jacksonville, NC; brother, Tyrone Canada; sister, Edwina Canada of Chattanooga; mother-in-law, Willie Sullivan of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends. He will lie-in-state on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel with chaplain Steve as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
