Gwendolyn Pittman's Obituary
Gwendolyn Joyce Williams-Pittman passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 71 at a local healthcare facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Frank Pittman Jr; daughter, Shmeeka Pittman; mother, Thelma “Sug” Williams; father, W.M. Ewing; brothers, Theodore “Teddy” Williams and Robert “Bobby” Williams; aunt, Ruby Williams; uncle, Willie “Sonny” Williams; and grandfather, Edward “Skillett” Williams.
Gwendolyn, also known as Joyce by close relatives and friends, was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 50 years. Joyce loved to share the good news about God’s Kingdom and the hope from the Bible that very soon the earth by means of God’s son Jesus Christ will be a beautiful paradise once again, and that no one will ever have to experience the sorrow and pain of death that we have to deal with now. Revelation 21:3-4.
Survivors include her son Frank Pittman III of Nashville, TN; sister/caretaker, Jean (George) Armour of Chattanooga; brothers, Gary “JR” Ewing, Bill (Raqetta) Williams, and David Williams all of Chattanooga; aunts, Susie Williams-Martin and Emma Williams, both of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Izola Williams of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; A very special adopted sister and friend, Regina Glatt.
The family would like to thank the staff at NHC Healthcare of Chattanooga with a special thank you to Ashia Pickett, Patty Frazier, Jackie Muckle and Diane Howe for the excellent care that was provided for Ms. Joyce during her time at the facility. There will be no service.
