Gerry DeWayne "Pete" Holland's Obituary
Gerry DeWayne “Pete” Holland was born February 27, 1959, to Connie J. Bolton and Wilson “Lil Sonny” Holland, Jr. in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Gerry was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System. Gerry was a former employee of Wade Show Inc. for many years. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at St. Paul Temple of the Apostolic Faith in Detroit, Michigan. Gerry enjoyed life and was blessed with many talents. He was an excellent swimmer and artist.
Gerry was preceded in death by his father, Wilson “Lil Sonny” Holland, Jr.; brothers, Kenneth LaRoy “Candyman” Herring, Kevin “Redbone” Holland; maternal grandparents, Ophal and Rachel Bolton; paternal grandparents, Beatrice McMichael, Wilson Holland, Sr., and stepfather, Willie F. Ewing.
Gerry leaves to cherish his memories four children; sons, Allen Bennett and Courtney Holland of Detroit, MI.; devoted daughters, Cotillyah Marsh of Chattanooga, TN., LaShanta Smith of Detroit, MI.; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; mother, Connie Ewing of Detroit, MI.; sister, Donnita Chambers of Detroit, MI.; devoted brother, Terry Holland of Chattanooga, TN.; two aunts, Imogene (Willie) Hammonds and Lisa Bolton, both of Chattanooga, TN.; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives; special friend, Andre Stephens of Detroit, MI; and other friends.
Gerry will lie-in-state on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. There will be no service.
