Geraldine J. Sanders' Obituary
Geraldine Jackson Sanders, 87, was born September 27, 1932 to the union of Leonard Jackson, Sr. and Kitty Ruth Andrews Jackson, surrounded by family transition peacefully at her residence on June 5, 2020. She was baptized at an early age at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where her mother and uncle were founding members. She was a faithful and founding member of New United Missionary Baptist Church, where before her health failed, she was a Deaconess and member of the Usher Board. Geraldine was a 1949 graduate of Howard High School. She later went to nursing school at Chattanooga School for Licensed Practical Nurses and became an LPN. She retired after 35 years from Memorial Hospital. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Elijah Sanders, Sr.; parents; brothers, Leonard Jackson, Jr., and Harold Jackson. Survivors include her daughters, Chrystal (Johnny) Horne, and Juana Jackson; sons, Elijah (Sandra) Sanders, Jr., Duane (Veronica) Sanders, Sr., and Jearld Sanders; daughter-in-law, Nichelle Sanders; granddaughters, Adrienne Sammons- Sanders, Fairel Sanders, Fallon Sanders, Tamica Watkins, Toshebia Williams, Shanni (Jay) Cunningham, Danielle Jackson, Faye Sadler, Tonya (Donald) Grayson, LaShaunda (RaShek) Herring, Stephanie (Shannon) Ford and Latasha Conley; grandsons, Duane (Jerilyn) Sanders, Demetrius (Lynn) Sanders, Duane (Jennifer) Sanders, Jr., Cherrick Sanders, Elijah (Alisha) Sanders III, Cardarius Sanders, Walter (Eboni) Cross, and Artuero (Valerie) Walton; 48 great- grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Darika (John) Priest, Valerie Howell, Felisa (Bernard) Gaines, Monica (Carl) Davis, Keysia Jackson, Dollye (Lee) Bolton, Terrie (Curtis) Moody, Tonya Harris, Stephanie Boaz, and Jamie Boaz; nephews, Shelton Jackson, Edward (Anne) Wickley and Anthony (Sandra) Patton; and a host of other relatives and friends. Dr. Jeffrey T. Wilson will serve as the eulogist.
