George Thompson, Sr.'s Obituary
George Thompson, Sr., 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in a local hospital. He was a member of Hawkinsville Baptist Church. He retired from T.U. Parks Construction after 35 years of service. George was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nellie Thompson; brothers, Freddie Thompson, Charles Thompson, and Charlie Johnson; sisters, Rose Boyd and Matilda Boyd; daughter, Debra Thompson; and grandson, Christopher Benn. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Thompson; sons, George (Marsha) Thompson, Jr. of Chattanooga and Terry (Angela) Thompson of Memphis, TN; daughters, Monica Thompson (Quinn) Lawrence and Antoinette Thompson Hughey, both of Chattanooga; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Clara) Thompson of Moulton, AL, Arthur (Vanessa) Thompson of Hillsboro, AL, Percell (Anna) Thompson of Courtland, AL, and Ezell (Cindy) Thompson of Genesis, IL; sister, Lucille Thompson of Hillsboro. Pastor Wayne Johnson will serve as the eulogist.
