George Philip Douglass' Obituary
George Philip “Sweetie Pie” Douglass, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at his residence. He was a graduate of Riverside High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. George was a member of the PACE Program. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Elmo and Caroline Douglas, Sr.; brothers, James Jones, Sr., Robert Douglas, Sr., Frederick (Robin) Douglas, Sr., and Lee Elmore Douglas, Jr.; sisters, Marcia (Clarence) Brooks and Deborah (Alfonzo) Peavey; aunt, Samella Jones; uncle, Daniel Douglas; nephew, Anthony Douglas; and niece, Brandy Douglas. Survivors include sons, Rashad Douglass of Alabama and Omar Douglass of Nashville; grandson, KaSaan Aries Douglass; brother, Coleman Douglas of Chattanooga; nephews, James Jones of Nashville, TN, Mike Jones of Orlando, FL, Robert (Vinci) Douglas, Jr., Kirk Douglas, Cedric (Ivonya) Douglas, all of Chattanooga, Robert Douglas of Arizona, Timothy Jackson, and Zarious Peavey, both of Chattanooga; nieces, Renee Jones of Chattanooga, Rosalyn Jones HIcks of Murfreesboro, Charlyn Brooks, Chasity Jackson (Darrel Hambrick, Sr.), and Georgetta Peavey, all of Chattanooga; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. George will lie-in-state on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
