GeLissa Eugenia Toney's Obituary
GeLissa Eugenia Toney, 28, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2021, in a local hospital. She was a 2012 graduate of Brainerd High School. Gelissa later went on to attend MTSU. She was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Gelissa was preceded in death by her grandfather, Eugene Toney; great-grandparents, Leroy Goins, Reverend Harris and Marie Toney; uncle, Robert (Thelma) Harris; aunt, Anita Hill; and cousin, Sheron Hill. Survivors include sons, Gene Sheppard and Cordell Sheppard; daughter, Laila Sheppard; parents, Gary and Lisa Toney, Sr. grandparents, Gwendolyn Hill and Joyce Garner; great-grandparents, Pearl (Chester) Westfield; brothers, Nicholas Harrison and Gary Toney Jr., sisters, Clarissa (Kenyatta Sr.) Garner, DeShayla Walker, and twin sister, GeNisha Toney; uncles, Jermaine Garner, Tim Garner, Tyrone Garner, Elliot Toney, and TJ Toney; aunts, Patricia Daniel, Monique Garner, and Tammy Toney; nephews, Cameron Garner, Kenyatta Jasper, II, Lesean Toney, and Jeriah Harrison; nieces, Savannah Ryan and Jalisa Marsh; children’s father, Rico Sheppard; special friends, India and Jalisa; a host of great-aunts; great-uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.
