Gale McArthur Chambers' Obituary
Gale M. Chambers transitioned from this earthly life into his eternal life on Friday, October 27, 2023. He was born October 13, 1943, to the late Willie Grace Chambers and Charles Hasten Chambers, in Hazard, Kentucky. Gale moved to Chattanooga at an early age. He was a proud graduate of the class of 1962 from Howard High School. He gained employment at Southern Coach Lines, currently known as CARTA, in 1969. He was the former President of ATU Local 1212 and a member of the Million Mile Club. Gale was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he participated in the Men’s Ministry, and was a former Trustee. Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hasten Chambers, Sr. and Willie Grace Chambers; sisters, Evangeline Chambers, Tillie Lane, and Bobbie Jean Daniels; brothers, Charles H. Chambers, Jr. and Howard Chambers. Gale leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 58 years, Betty West Chambers; sons, Gregory (Dianna) Chambers of Indian Land, SC and Michael (Sharon) Chambers; grandchildren, LaQuida Chambers (Ronald) Thompson, Lashunna Chambers, Michael Chambers, Jr., Sage Janae Morgan Chambers, and Kendyl Chambers both of Indian Land, SC; great-grandchildren, Markell Chambers, Terrion Thompson, and Nevaeh Thompson; sister, Glyndon Wilson of Dayton, OH; sisters-in-law, India Pearl Chambers, Dorothy Sanders, Jo Ingram, and Mildred Freeman; devoted nieces and nephews, Antionette Green, Anthony Chambers, Deborah Terry, Amanda Ector, Edward Wilson, Consuella Wilson, India Talliaferro, Robin Freeman, Tanzea Freeman, Cliftionette Powell, Tara Sanders, Pamela Crutcher, Junies Jones, Sonya Massengill, Jackie Dell, Richard West, Drusilla Robinson, and Stephen West; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. Gale will lie-in-state on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the church with Pastor Wayne Johnson as the eulogist. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
