Galatian White, Jr.'s Obituary
Galatian White, Jr., “Big June”, 73, of Chattanooga, departed this earthly life on Monday, September 5, 2022, in a local hospital. He was born to the late Galatian White, Sr. and Bobbie F. Blance then reared by Lourene “Tina” White. At a young age he joined Stanley United Methodist Church where he assisted the Usher Board, United Methodist Men, and in his later years was the custodian. Galatian was a 1967 graduate of Riverside High School where he played football and was in the Duke social club. He was energetic, supportive, and a person that truly enjoyed life as well as a die hard Cleveland Browns Fan. “Big June” was a firefighter for many years, served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and was an AMVETS member. He loved to socialize and worked at Mary’s Lounge doing what he loved more than anything, which is cooking. “Big June” was an excellent cook. Even though he shared all his recipes, no one could quite duplicate that taste; especially his cornbread. Everything he cooked was on point and delicious. Among those who preceded Galatian in death include his aunts, Mamie Dyer, Naomi McIntosh, and Mamie Pearl Lewis; brother-in-law, Steven Johnson; and cousin, David Dyer. Survivors include his loving and caring wife of 15 years, Erica White; daughters, Brandy Gentry, Candice Williams, and Kiara Dunnigan (Alfred); sons, Alric Moore and Xavier Moore; grandchild, Aubrie Preston; mother-in-law, Bonita Johnson, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Dianne “Di” Brown of Detroit, MI, Glynis Franklin, and Ginnell McCauley, both of Chattanooga; brother, Jonny Jones of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; niece, Venita Lawson; great-nieces, Deanna Lawson and Yolanda Lawson; great-nephew, Jacob Lawson, all of Detroit, MI; cousins, Paul “Skipper” McIntosh, III of Chattanooga and Kenneth “Bronie” Dyer; several brothers-in-laws; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives, special friends, Ricky Jones, AMVETS, the N Holly Street and Arlington Avenue Crews and other friends. “Big June” was loved by all. Dr. Richard Brown will serve as the eulogist.
