Fred Owens' Obituary
Fred Owens, 78, of Ringgold, GA., passed away Saturday July 12, 2025, at his residence. Fred was born December 14, 1946, in Chattanooga, TN, to Thomas Owens, Sr. and Willie Mae Owens Sparks. Fred joined the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam. After his military career Fred worked for Top Flight. Fred married Geneva Scoffield Owens on September 26, 2015, in Chattanooga, TN. Their union consisted of travel and spending time with family.
Fred thoroughly enjoyed reading his bible and taking pictures at family gatherings. He was a member of Inner Peace Church under the leadership of his nephew, Ron King, where he served as an usher. He greatly enjoyed listening to Pastor King preach. Fred enjoyed Sunday Football, Westerns, and any kind of breakfast food. He was a fan of Bobby Brown, “My Prerogative” being his favorite song. He liked dressing up and stepping out, and was always ready to tell a good story or share a good joke. Above all else, he was a protector, a provider, and proudly professed his love for his family.
Preceding Fred in death is his son, Frederick Owens; his father, Thomas Owens, Sr.; his mother, Willie Mae Owens Sparks; stepfather, Sherman Sparks; brother, Thomas Owens; sister, Jessica Dean Jackson.
Remaining to cherish Fred’s memory is his loving and caring wife, Geneva Owens; daughters, Jennifer Owens, Lynn Owens, Kenya Owens, and Shamar Owens; sons, Dorzell Owens and DeIvory Owens; brothers, Bobby (Leila) Howard and Joe (Frances) Owens; sisters, Brenda (Clifford) Davis and Charlie Mae Griffin; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family members.
Fred will lie-in-state on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron King as Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
