Fred Douglas Heard's Obituary
Fred Douglas Heard, age 76, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025. He was born May 16, 1948, to Lorenzo Heard and Mittie Rene Birdsong-Heard in Wedowee, Alabama. Family and friends called him “Catfish”. He was educated at Howard High School of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Later in life, Freddy assembled wrecker trucks with Earnest homes, Miller Industry.
Among those who preceded Fred in death include his parents Lorenzo and Mittie Heard; brothers, Joe Heard and Bobby Heard; sisters, Marilyn (Coleman) Calhoun; son, Emanuel “Wayne” Williams; niece, Beverly J. Graham; and nephew, Vincent Mikes.
Cherishing his memories are his son, Marcus Heard of Chattanooga; his daughter, Kenya Houser of Chattanooga; his brother, John W. Heard of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Antonio Thomas and Marcellus Thomas of Snellville, GA., Marlaysia Heard, Cory Coleman, Alexander Houser, Azia Houser, Cortez Houser, and Trinity Houser, all of Chattanooga; great-grandchild, Kashus Thomas of Snellville, GA; nephews, Ronald Calhoun, Donald Calhoun, Caleman Calhoun, Corey (Almeta) Heard, Carlos (Andrea) Heard, Allen Heard, and Anthony Turner; nieces, Roshanda Heard, of Atlanta, GA, Joanne Mikes, and Laquanna (Jeff) Nelson of Kennesaw, GA; special niece, Willethia (Ronald) Wigfall; special great-niece, Laquana Calhoun; sisters-in-law, Irene Heard and Lavonia Heard, both of Chattanooga; special friend, Leonard Wigfall; a host of other loving great-nephews and great-nieces; cousins; other relatives and dear friends. Fred will lie-in-state on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Pastor Bobby Hampton as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
