Fai Lee Smith's Obituary
Fai Lee Smith, 69, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, in a local hospital. She was a 1972 graduate of Riverside High School and received her Associate degree in Accounting from Chattanooga State. Fai was an Accountant with Guardian Investments & Accounting and Eagle Power. Although her formal training was in Accounting, Fai’s God-given talent was in teaching and training. She worked as a Senior Trainer for TVA and later the Senn-Delaney Consulting group; travelling through the Tennessee valley for TVA and nation-wide with Senn-Delaney. Fai, a long and faithful member of Oakwood Baptist Church, where utilized both her formal training and God-given gifts. She was a Sunday school teacher of a “hybrid” class, welcoming church goers of all ages, gender and backgrounds. She utilized the standard Sunday school books, but studied the text and shared her views on what the Word meant and then engaged her class on how to apply it in everyday activities. She also served on different committees and organizations in the church, as well as being the church Accountant until her health declined. Fai was preceded in death by her father, William Lee; mother, Maude Lee; brother, Wanza Lee; her sister, Juanita Lemon; brothers, William Edward Lee, Tyrone Lee, Wayne Lee, and Denson Lee; and son, Landreau Smith, Sr. Cherishing her memories include her husband of 52 years, Terry Smith, Sr.; son, Terry “Smitty” (Linette) Smith, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN; honorary daughter, Tawana of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter-in-law, Raphea (Tyson) Porter of Ooltewah, TN; 6 grandchildren, Jacques Smith, Terry Smith, III, Ariyiona Smith, Trinity Smith, Zion Clark, and Landreau Smith, Jr.; 2 great-grandchildren, Isaiah Smith and Ianna Smith; sisters-in-law, Sharron Smith of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, Lonita Lee, and Carol Lee; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; special friends, Renita, Lamont, Maggie, Leon, Walter, Lynn; beloved church family at Oakwood Baptist Church. Fai will lie-in-state on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at Oakwood Baptist Church with Ministers Walter Cross and Ken Clark giving words of comfort. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
