Ezra B. Harris' Obituary
Ezra B. Harris, 64, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Hospice Care Center. He was a 1978 graduate of Howard High School. He attended Morehouse College and received his Bachelor’s degree from UTC. Ezra was employed as a Deputy with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and retired after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Tucker Baptist Church. Ezra was an integral part and longstanding volunteer of the Forgotten Child Fund. He was a member of the Woodmore Neighborhood Association, the Food Pantry, Big Brother Big Sister Association, and the Foster Grandparent Program at Orchard Knob Elementary School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Mary Alice Harris; brothers, Samuel and Timothy Harris. Survivors include his daughters, Brittney Harris and Jessica Harris; 1 fur grandchild, Riley James Harris; brothers, Isaac Harris, Malachi Harris, and Nathaniel Harris, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Jacqueline (Fred) Holland of Chattanooga, Emma Meeks of Nashville, TN, and Mabel (Robert) Sligh of Loganville, GA; cousin, Thomas Knowles, Jr.; several nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family; neighbors; and friends at several community organizations. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 12 noon in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Hathaway as the Eulogist. Burial on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery.
