Esmond “Tank” Sparks, Sr., 47, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. He was a 1992 graduate of Tyner High School. He received a certificate as an auto mechanic from Chattanooga State Community College. Esmond was preceded in death by his father, Richard Sparks, Sr.; grandparents, Clay C. and Eunice Poe, Hosie King, and Miriam Sparks; aunt, Shirley Lee; cousins, Terrance D. Poe, Sr. and Tony Poe, Jr. Survivors include his wife forever, Crystal W. Sparks; sons, Jayson Sparks of CA, Esmond Sparks, Jr., Angel Strickland, Adolphus Jennings, and Karina Jennings, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Esmanda Sparks, Special Sparks, Treasure Sparks, and Jahkeeta Moore, all of Chattanooga; 7 grandchildren; mother, Linda Roberts; father, Charles Roberts, both of Chattanooga; brother, Richard Sparks, Jr. of Newport, KY; sisters, LaDana Churchill of Oklahoma City, OK and Ruscia Sparks of Greenburg, IN; uncles, Anthony Poe, Sr., Gregory Poe, Danny (Terry) Reed, all of Chattanooga, Tony Poe, Sr. of Gadsden, AL, Gary (Annie) Sparks, Sr. and Lavon Sparks, both of Cincinnati, OH; aunts, Kimberley Mincey, Sandra Moore, Gloria Scruggs, and Diane Scruggs, all of Chattanooga; god-sisters, Yolanda Waites of Jacksonville, FL and Dorothy McClain of Chattanooga; stepbrothers, Derrick Roberts of Murfreesboro, TN and Taurus (Velma) Odom of Chattanooga; stepsisters, Tawana (Darryl) Hinton and Sherry Smith, both of Chattanooga; sisters/cousin, Tinica Caperton of Chattanooga and Adrienne Simmons of Murfreesboro, TN; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
