Ernest Edwards' Obituary
Ernest Torrell Edwards, 53, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, in Chickamauga, Georgia. He was born on June 16, 1969, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was affectionately called “good daddy” by his family and friends. Ernest was a 1987 graduate of Central High School. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. He loved quartet music and was the manager for the Spiritual Highlights for many years. Ernest loved to spend time with his family. He had a passionate love for his grandchildren. His grandchildren brought him so much joy. Ernest was loved by many and didn’t meet a stranger. He was a long time employee of HCA Hospital at Valley as a manager. He loved working with children there. Ernest was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Kitchens; stepfather, Marvin Kitchens; siblings, Cynthia Edwards and Ivan Edwards; and grandparents, Emma Shepherd and Jimmie Edwards. Survivors include his wife, Leslie Edwards; son, Brandon Edwards, daughter, Keyona Rizer; son he reared as his own, Roland Rizer; grandchildren, Rakayla, Amari, Kyrie, and Mia; father, William (Charlotta) Edwards; grandmother, Ethel Ricks; brothers, Cedric (Towanna) Edwards, Maurice (Tabitha) Edwards, and Jamarion Edwards; sisters, Danita (Tyree) Lidge Edwards, Sylvia Edwards (Terrance) Taylor, Hosanna Edwards, and Kenya Edwards; mother-in-law, Brenda McClendon; father-in-law, Arthur Howard; brother-in-law, Laurence Howard; LaWanda Turner; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Ernest will lie-in-state on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Ron King as the eulogist. Burial at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Forest Hills Cemetery.
