Emma Broadnax's Obituary
Emma Jean Broadnax passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at her residence. She was born to parents John Talley and Gladys Chandler Talley on June 5, 1933, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended Booker T. Washington High School. Emma was a faithful member of Hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church where she also served on the Mother Board. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Talley and Gladys Chandler Talley; husband, Butler James Broadnax; son, Marlon Dennis Broadnax; grandson, Marlon Dennis “Donte” Broadnax, II; sister, Robertine Spann; and stepmother, Willie Lee Talley. Survivors include her sons, Steven Broadnax of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Cornelius Broadnax of Chatsworth, GA; daughters, Denise Clark, Wanda Norris, Terri (Edgar) Broadnax-Wherry, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Emma will lie-in-state on Saturday January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Dr. Bobby Hampton as the eulogist. Burial on Monday January 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
