Elroy Bailey's Obituary
Elroy “CiscoKid” Bailey, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away, Sunday, June 1, 2025, in the Hospice Care Center. He graduated from Howard High School in 1961. Elroy was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. He was a member of South Chattanooga Masonic Lodge # 121 Prince Hall Free & Accepted Masons for over 50 years. He was very much loved by his lodge brothers. He enjoyed spending time with his family making memories. In his free time, he loved to be outside, on his boat, fishing and playing a good game of dominos. He loved to tell old stories of the things he had experienced. Elroy was very big on family and loving on them, always helping when help was needed. Elroy loved singing, listening to quartet groups, and also loved listening to the Blues. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Western movies. Elroy loved to travel and had driven Charter Buses and 18 wheelers for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfonzo Bailey; his mother, Gussie Manns; sisters, Jennifer Bailey, and Myrtice Johnson.
Cherishing his memories include his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Tanna Bailey; sons, Steven Bailey and Lathe Corbin, both of Chattanooga; daughters, Keester (Jamil) Johnson of San Francisco, CA and Denise “Dee” (Ronald) Blackwell of Chattanooga; granddaughters, R’mani Blackwell, Shakela Foxx, and Lai’Una Corbin; grandsons, Steven (Marquita) Foxx, Frederick Bailey, Deuntaye Johnson, Stephon (Miranda) Woods, Demarreo Foxx, Tyrone Foxx, Ronnie Blackwell, Tyler Blackwell, and Ronald Blackwell, III; 18 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Linda) Bailey, Sr. of Chattanooga, Tony Bigoms of Atlanta, GA, Cecil Hanner, Anthony (Tracy) Evans, and Delta (Donna) Evans, all of Chattanooga; sisters, LaVigna Jackson, Carol Jackson, both of Chattanooga, Karen Jackson of Fairfield, CA, and Edith McKibben of Chattanooga; special friends, James “Pope” McLester, George “Gup” McLester, and James “Bear” Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.
Elroy will lie-in-state on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
