Elbert Lamar Hinton's Obituary
Elbert Lamar Hinton, 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in a local hospital. He was the Valedictorian of his 1957 class of Hill High School in Lafayette, Georgia. He went on to attend Tennessee State University. Elbert was a member of Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Committee. He retired from Dupont in 1998 after 34 years of service. Elbert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Beulah C. Hinton; grandparents, Henry and Bertha Hinton, Thomas and Felt Davis; parents, Chester and Vera Hinton; sister, Kathleen Neal. Survivors include his son, Michael Lamar Hinton of Holly Hill, FL; grandchildren, Bryan Hinton and Zitavian Edwards; great-grandchild, Bradley Hinton; brothers, Marvin Hinton of Jackson, MS, Melvin Hinton of Kensington, GA, and Bradford Hinton of Lafayette, GA; sisters, Clemmie Hinton of Kensington, GA and Aileen Careathers of Lafayette, GA; aunt, Lucille Turner of Springfield, OH; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Robert Freeman will serve as the eulogist.
