Edward Lamar Carter, Sr.'s Obituary
Edward Jamal “Mah-Mah” Carter, Sr., 40, of Chattanooga, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born July 21st, 1984, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was the owner and operator of Moe Mow’s Lawn Service. Mah-Mah was a loving, dedicated father to six wonderful children, as well as a devoted husband to his amazing wife, Lakisha. He was an exceptional athlete and former running back for the semi-pro football team, Dalton Danger. He was also a former little league coach for various teams. Mah-Mah enjoyed making music, working out, meeting new people, and spending time with his family and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Marquett Dixon-Davis; father, Edward Carter, Jr.; sons, E’vontae Carter and Eli Carter; grandfather, Willie Dixon, Sr.; grandmother, Pearl Carter; grandfather, Edward Carter, Sr.; uncle, Johnny Green. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Lakisha Foster-Carter; sons, Tashawn Carter, Edward Carter, Jr., Armani Jordan, and Ethan Carter; daughters, E’Nijah Carter and E’Daija Carter; mother-in-law, Lavonza (Curtis) Barnes; brothers, Courtney Holmes, George (Chelsea) Dews, Trenell (Amanda) Carter, and Corey Carter; brother-in-law, Keric Vinson; sisters, Shakeria Dixon, Ciara Rogers, and Georgette Dews; grandmother, Martha Blanks; grandmother-in-law, Daisy Foster; aunts, Vanessa (Donald) Redder, Wilvett (Timmie) Pope, Tretta Dixon-Dawson, and Derothera Carter; uncles, Willie Dixon, Jr., Lebron Carter, Alvin (Gewan) Wright, and Trone (Corneil) Elaster; devoted friends, Terry Hardy, Jr., Frank Crumsey, and Javias Lindsey; a host of nieces; nephews; great-aunts; great-uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Edward will lie-in-state on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Pastor Stephen Gilchrist as Eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
