Edna G. Griffin's Obituary
Edna Gail Griffin, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her residence. She was a very strong woman who was always there when a helping hand was needed. She had a heart of gold and selflessly gave of herself to her family, friends, and anyone in need.
Edna loved having get togethers surrounded by family and love. Her home was always filled with laughter, good food, and many beautiful memories.
She was preceded in death by Alex and Lizzie Jackson Carter; son, Fredrick Carter; brother, Johnny Carter, Sr.; sisters, Mary Calhoun, Catherine Pope, and Dwartha Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her 6 children, Barry L. Griffin, Charles B. Griffin, Raymond Bennett, Claressa Bennett, Elena Hughlett, and Jacqueline Griffin; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special friend, Katrina Gordon; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Edna will lie-in-state on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Reverend Bill Calhoun as the Eulogist.
