Edna Louise Dowdy's Obituary
Edna Louise Dowdy, 82, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at her residence in Murfreesboro, Tennessee after a battle with many health complications. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a resident of LaFayette, Georgia, was born on October 13, 1942.
Edna graduated from Howard High School class of 1960 and worked for Erlanger Hospital where she retired after 25 years of employment. She was a member of Rock Spring Seventh-day Adventist Church in Rock Spring, Georgia. Edna is survived by her children, Reginald Dowdy, Paula (Curtis) McLean, both of Chattanooga, Angie Coleman of Hoover, AL, Darius (Natalie) Dowdy of Seguin, TX, Vickie (Brandon) Lawson of Murfreesboro, TN, and Donna Garner of Chattanooga; two sisters, Wilma Byrd and Theresa Hart, both of Chattanooga; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; an uncle; aunts; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Edna will lie-in-state on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Orchard Park Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Troy Brand as the Eulogist. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
