Eddie J. Jones' Obituary
Eddie James Jones, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, in the Hospice Care Center. He was born on February 9, 1950 to the late Quincy and Lillian Ivory Jones. He was affectionately known by family and friends as “Goo Goo”. He was reared in the Park City Community. Eddie was a 1968 graduate of Howard High School. He was a member of the Marching 100 Band. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his military career, he served in the Vietnam War. “Goo Goo” enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandsons, and attending regular meetings and events with the AMVET Post 36. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Willie R. Jones Hammonds and Mary Joyce Jones; and brother, Quincy Leon Jones. Survivors include his daughter, Erica Jones; grandchildren, Jarius Ware and Micah Ware; sister, Martha A. Thirkill; uncle, Thomas Parker; nephews, Quincy, Carlos (Tina), James, Nathaniel, Brian (Mitchell), Brent (Shante), and Carlos T.; nieces, Lenora (Andy), Angela, Yolanda, Rota, Cheyenne, and Amber; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. Eddie will lie-in-state on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel with Elder Rico Gordon as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
