Dovilene Sterling Jackson, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at her residence. She entered this world on October 15, 1932, in Pine Mountain, Georgia, born to the late Rev. Ernest S. Sterling and Mrs. Willie Bell Spence Sterling. She is married to Deacon Leon Jackson.
With a heart devoted to her church, family, and friends—especially her cherished special family, Flossie and sons—Dovilene touched many lives. She found joy in nurturing her beautiful flowers and spreading love to everyone she met. Her enduring legacy lives on through her loving husband, her bonus sons and bonus daughters and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will continue to celebrate her memories.
Dovilene was preceded in death by her sister, Emma Mae (Mrs. Leroy Champion), and her brothers, Rev. Ralph (Elizabeth) Sterling, Mr. Lewis (Bessie) Sterling, Mr. James (Rhudene) Sterling, George Sterling, and Mr. Tommy Sterling.
Her strong faith was her guide and comfort, as reflected in her favorite scripture: “Her Lord said unto her, well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord” (St. Matthew 25:21).
Known for her signature dark red lipstick Dovilene’s favorite song, “Lily in the Valley,” beautifully reflected her spirit and unwavering faith.
