Mrs. Dorothy Dean Freeman's Obituary
Dorothy Dean Freeman, 81, of Chattanooga, surrounded by her family passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at her residence. She was raised in Soddy Daisy, but moved to Chattanooga in her late teen years. She was a 1956 graduate of Howard High School. Dorothy was a member of Grace Baptist Tabernacle. She retired from Olan Mills after 30 years of service. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life, Dorothy dedicated her service to her church and charity organizations. She volunteered for American Cancer Society and AAA Women Services. She always wanted to be a mentor for young people especially young women. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Shelby. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ralph Freeman; sons, Ralph Kenneth Freeman, Rodney Kelvin (Nell) Freeman, and Ronald Keith Freeman, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Charlotte Merita Black of Chattanooga and Cheryl Melissa (Shawn) Connors of Hampton, GA; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Fisher of Orlando, FL; aunt, Mary Cowans of Soddy Daisy; brother-in-law, John (Peggy) Kilpatrick of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 12 noon at Hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church with her husband, Ralph Freeman as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
