Doris Hamiel's Obituary
Doris K. Hamiel, 95, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her Kennesaw, Georgia residence. She was born on November 19, 1930, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Edward Fowlkes and Dorothy Nelson Fowlkes.
Sis. Hamiel was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Avondale where she served on the usher board for over 30 years. She retired from Planter Snack Company after 20 plus years. After retiring she later went to work for Kandy Kastle Daycare for 6 years. Sis Hamiel was a sweet spirit, yet she carried a quiet strength. She loved her family, and her home was the hub for family gathering for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Fowlkes; sister, Odessa Bradford; son, Gary Lowery; and grandson, Eugene Harvey IV.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one brother Nelson (Peggy) Fowlkes, San Ramon, CA; four children, Sheila (Eugene) Harvey, Douglasville, GA, Warbrit Russell (Kaye) Lowery, Cleveland, TN, Deborah (Charles) Robinson, Kennesaw, GA and Christine Hamiel, Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Demetria (Ternae) Jordan, Russell Brit Lowery, Spencer Harvey, and Korinne Lowery; three great-grandchildren, Deanna Jordan, Brooke Harvey and Ari Lowery. She also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. Doris will lie-in-state on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Jr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
