Donnie Garner, Sr.'s Obituary
Donnie Lee Garner, Sr., 66, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in the Hospice Care Center. He was a 1974 graduate of Howard High School. Donnie was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He retired from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Lou Garner; daughters, Desiree Garner and Destiny Garner Goines; and sister, Brenda Garner Smith. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carrell Careathers Garner; sons, Rodrick Lovelace of Chattanooga and Donnie Lee Garner, Jr. of San Diego, CA; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Harold Phillips of Decatur, GA, Freddie Garner, James Garner, Frank Garner, Cedrick Garner, Jeffrey Garner all of Chattanooga, and Reginald Garner of Nashville, TN; sisters, Joyce McClain, Betty Edwards, both of Detroit, MI, and Tonya Williams of Charlotte, NC; brothers-in-law, Marcel Williams of Charlotte and Will Careathers of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Mary Phillips, Ganeva Garner, Annie Garner, Deborah, Garner, Jennifer Garner, and Satania Garner; special friends, Musa Danfolio, Toney Watson, Jones and Pierce families, and the Park City Community; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends. Pastor Marva Favors will serve as eulogist.
