DeWayne Lynnell Evans Sr.'s Obituary
DeWayne Lynnell Evans, Sr., aka “Wayniac”, 44, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in a local hospital. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on December 13, 1979, to Mr. Gary Evans, Sr. and Myra Armstrong. DeWayne graduated from Brainerd High School in 1998, where he played the trombone in the marching band. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He was the life of the party and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved football and was an avid Tennessee Titans and Vols fan. He spent countless hours volunteering for the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. DeWayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ervin Evans, Dean Tillison, and Jimmie Lois Jones; sisters, Bonita Evans and Dedra Penn; infant son, Christopher Evans. He leaves cherished memories to his wife, LaToya Sivels Evans; three daughters, MaKiyah James-Evans of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jennifer Evans, and Taylor Davenport both of Chattanooga; six sons, DeWayne Evans, Jr., Jordan Evans of Kennesaw, GA, Jamonte Oliver, James Evans, Jeremiah Evans and Jarrett Evans, all of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Ma-Kia Davenport, Ryder Oliver, Novah Evans, Legend Billups, and Ryliegh Evans; mother, Myra (Elgin) Armstrong; father, Gary (Rhonda) Evans, Sr. of Nashville, TN; five sisters, Tamika Powell, Dywana (Jarmal) Ringer, Dr. Daphne (John) Fonge, Diondra “Pumpkin” Robinson, and Tamara Armstrong; brother, Gary Evans, Jr.; grandmother, Earline Freeman; father-in-law, Michael (Tina) Sivels, Sr.; mother-in-law, Lavoneza (Curtis) Barnes; sisters-in-law, LaKisha (Edward) Carter, Mikel Sivels, Tara (Christopher) McDonald, Mia (Adam) Jackson, Tiffany Houston, and Andrea Houston; brother-in-law, Michael Sivels, Jr.; devoted best friends, Gary Hayes, Dewon “Fish” Holland, Matthew Williams, and J.D. Douglas; a host of aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews and other friends. He will lie-in-state on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ron Cook, Sr. as the Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
