Deloris "Pookie" Henderson Nelson's Obituary
Deloris “Pookie” Henderson Nelson, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in a local hospital. She was born December 26, 1952 to Jessie and Katherine Henderson. She attended Riverside High School. Deloris was also a member of Second St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. Pookie loved to cook, especially her sweet potato pies and dressing. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Henderson; father, Jessie Henderson; husband of 34 years, Clevant Nelson; sister, Angel Henderson Spence; and mother, Katherine Henderson. Survivors include her four children, Kamesha Nelson Cook of Crossroads, TX, Dana Nelson of Chattanooga, Keith (Shanavious) Nelson of Clermont, FL, and Tonya Nelson of Chattanooga; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Gloria “Jean” Parrish of Chattanooga and Vivian (Larry) Hart of Smiths Station, AL; brother, Micheal (Rita) Henderson of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Ronald Cook, Sr. will serve as the eulogist.
