Della Jo Kellogg's Obituary
Della Jo Hayden-Kellogg was born on May 6, 1947, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the cherished daughter of the late Alethera Jackson-Hayden and the late George Owens. On Thursday, April 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, God called her home to her eternal rest.
Della Jo was united in holy matrimony to James Kellogg, who preceded her in death in 2007. From their union and a life devoted to family came the foundation of everything she held dear. Della Jo built a distinguished career as a billing specialist, serving with dedication at Provident Insurance and later at Johnson Behavioral Health. She was known in her workplace for her diligence, her warm spirit, and her quiet strength.
A faithful member of New Jerusalem Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Della Jo loved the Lord and loved His people. Her church family was an extension of her own family, and she gave generously of her time, her presence, and her heart to the work of the ministry.
Outside of work and worship, Della Jo found her greatest joy in her family. She was a gifted crocheter, and the blankets, throws, and keepsakes that came from her hands were stitched with patience and love. She poured herself into the people she loved, and her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and welcome.
Della Jo was proceeded in death by her parents, George Owens and Alethera Jackson-Hayden, loving husband, James Kellogg, cherished grandmother, Rosa Jackson, and beloved brothers, Walter Jackson, Willie James Hayden, Sr., Paul Leon Hayden, and Gerald Jackson.
She leaves a legacy of faith, family, and unwavering love. She leaves to cherish her memories, devoted daughter, Angel Kellogg of Chattanooga, TN.; loving son, Jason (Jodi) Kellogg of Chattanooga, TN.; loving daughter, Jessica (Jarvis) Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN.; devoted sister, Shirley (Joseph) Jamar of Akron, OH.; cherished grandchildren, Delvonte Colvin and Cordale Colvin; special niece, Mercy Patterson; loving nephew, Michael Owens along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family, and devoted friends.
Della Jo will lie-in-state on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Sandra Wilkes as the Eulogist.
