Deirdre Michelle Caslin Smith's Obituary
Deirdre Michelle Caslin Smith, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She attended Kirkman Technical High School, class of 1981. She furthered her education by graduating from Chattanooga State Technical College with an associate degree in business management. Deirdre attended Mt. Cannan Baptist Church. She will be truly missed by her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Faye Black; father, Alvin McClanahan, Sr.; grandparents, Catherine and William Hedrick; brother, Cedric McClanahan. Survivors include longtime partner of 20 years, James Tumbling (JT); son, Curtis Smith, Jr; step-son, Cornelius Tumbling both of Chattanooga; daughter, Jamia Caslin of Chattanooga; six grandchildren; brother, Alvin (Linda) McClanahan, Jr. of Cleveland, OH; sisters, Karen (Thomas) Ware of Ringgold, GA, Valerie McClanahan, Nicole (Keith) Fontaine, and Brandee (Rashad) McCall all of Cleveland, OH; god-sister, Jacque (Troy) Williams of Chattanooga; special aunt, Frances Jones; nieces, Alexis (Fred) Gipson of Bartlett, TN, Amethyst Barnes of San Diego, CA. and Amber Barnes of Chattanooga; special friends, Sharon Davis and Catherine Johnson; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will lie-in-state on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jeffrey Wilson as the eulogist.
