Deborah Whitson Robinson's Obituary
Deborah Whitson Robinson, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in a local healthcare facility. She was a graduate of Howard High School, Class of 1971, and worked at a number of companies: Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia; Certified Nursing Assistant in Nashville, and The Shoe Renewry in downtown Chattanooga.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Sammy T. Brown, Jennie Mae Dunnigan, and stepfather, James H. Dunnigan; grandparents, Riley and Alice Taylor; sister, Carolyn L. Whitson; brother, Robert L. Taylor; son, Earl Donnell Robinson, Jr.; stepdaughter, Avonda Robinson; and nephew, Carlton L. Whitson.
As the beloved matriarch of the family, she brought laughter wherever she went with her witty, comical personality, while also caring deeply for those she loved. Also known for her sense of humor, giving out funny unique nicknames, and always bringing smiles to those around her. Deborah was featured on an episode of the A&E TV show “Hoarders”, where she offered guidance and support to a close friend. She enjoyed traveling, listening to music, cooking (best cook in the family), barbecuing (BBQ) on the grill, and spending time with family & friends; always just a call or message away, she kept everyone close, we’re convinced she invented the cell phone.
Deborah centered her life around raising and taking care of her precious granddaughter, Journee (Journ-Journ), they had a very special bond, they did everything together.
She leaves to cherish her memories, brother, Tommie (Murlene) Whitson, Jr. of Coupland, TX; sisters, Mary Morris, Margaret Nance of Conyers, GA, Veronica (Anthony) Beasley of Graham, NC, Linda (Charles) Stinson, and Kathleen (Leonard) Dillard of Fredericksburg, VA; granddaughter, Journee D. Robinson; grandchildren, Marquintae Hobbs, Earl D. Robinson III, Nehemiah Robinson, Major Robinson, Malachi Robinson, Isaiah Robinson, David Robinson, Sr., Jackie Robinson, Ashley Robinson, Jovani Robinson, Sr., Shadara Robinson, and Kiara Robinson; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends who will greatly miss her.
Deborah will lie-in-state on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the Chapel with Pastor Ron B. Cook, Sr. as the Eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
