David Alphonso “BooBoo” McDowell, 61, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 in a local healthcare facility. He was a 1977 graduate of Howard High School where he played on the football team. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy. David was preceded in death by his father, Wilson McDowell; grandparents, Willie and Elizabeth Collins, Sr.; brother, Tony McDowell; uncle, Willie Collins, Jr.; aunt, Wanda Collins; and close friend, Derrick Chapman. Survivors include his mother, Wilma McDowell; stepfather, George Clay; brothers, James McDowell and Maurice McDowell; sister, Rosalyn (Robert) Smith; cousins, Sredrick Collins and Toriaunto Collins; close friends, Jeffery Hemphill, James Orr, James Poole, Seprenia Moore, Jeffery Smith, Larry Pollard, Thomas Rice and Tommy Norwood; and a host of other relatives and friends. George E. Woodruff, Jr. will serve as the eulogist.
