Darcy L. Johnson's Obituary
Darcy LaRon “Duck” Johnson, 62, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in a Maryville, Tennessee hospital. He was born July 13, 1961, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, one of five children to the late Mrs. Alberta J. Clayton. Darcy graduated high school from Howard High School class of 1979. He was baptized in the Baptist Faith at a young age at the Memorial Baptist Church under the Leadership of the late Rev. John Tucker. He was well known and received his start with a Career in the Culinary Art of Cooking. Darcy worked several years at The Read House and The Marriott Hotel before relocating to Maryville, Tennessee. He retired July 2023 after having worked from the age of 15 until 62. Among those who preceded him in death include his mother, Alberta J. Clayton; father, Leo Boswell; grandparents, Eugene and Emma Johnson, John W. Wright, Sr. and Rachel Wright; brother, Jeffery G. Johnson, Sr.; and nephew, Jarrard Allison. Darcy was a man that loved the Lord and his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Avery I. (Rhonda) Wright, Joyceland Y. Wright, and Terence C. Wright; nephews, Avery Wright, Jr., Jeffery Johnson, Jr., Brendon Allison, all of Chattanooga, and Darris Wright of Salt Lake City, UT; nieces, Taquelia Johnson, Shanika Wright, both of Chattanooga, Kerstin Sanders of Valdosta, GA, Terri Wright of Charlotte, N.C., and Terra Wright of Chattanooga; uncle and aunts, Marie McCoy and Mary (Theoples) Williams all of Chattanooga; as well as a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. Darcy will lie-in-state on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Gregory Ludy giving words of comfort.
