Dale Winsted Horton, Sr.'s Obituary
Dale W. Horton Sr., 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 11, 1938, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Reverend Oscar and Jennie Horton. He graduated from CSTCC in 1995 where he received an Associate Degree in Information Systems Technology (Micro-Computers Concepts). While there, he was on the Dean’s List. Dale went on to teach in the private sector for the Private Industry Council, he was a System Analyst and taught the Microsoft Office Package. Dale was a past President of the PTA at Hardy Elementary School, an avid fisherman, and had served in the U.S. Navy.
Dale was a current member of New Enon Baptist Church, Reverend Andrew J. Bullard III, Pastor and a past member of The Greater Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Alexander Bullard presiding.
Among those who preceded Dale in death include his father, Reverend Oscar Horton; mother, Jennie Horton; and mother-in-law, Rosa M. Pillows.
Cherishing his memories include his beloved wife of 40 years, Brenda Pillows-Horton; sons, William (Miracle) Jackson, Antonio Jackson, and Oscar (Bethany) Horton; two granddaughters, Iakia and Relaya Jackson; two grandsons, Noah and Ash Horton; four great-grandchildren, Akeem Pole, Navi Jones, Eddie, and Kenyla Henderson; three sisters-in-law, Alma Russell, Ruby Pillows, and Malinda Boozer; three brothers-in-law, Clifford Pillows, Bennie (Rossion) Pillows and John Pillows; two goddaughters, Elisa Ray and Alexis Wordlaw; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dale will lie-in-state on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at New Enon Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dr. Andrew J. Bullard, III as the Eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
